Destination Station

Are you familiar with the Destination Station?

I have some spare time on my hands, tonight. So, I decided it might be fun to do a little bit of exploring. Usually I like to go map hopping, and just TP to completely random places. Thats very hit or miss, however. Often times, I end up seeing nothing but camp spots, tacky malls or ugly mainland. So to do something a little bit different, I decided to start exploring some of the sims listed in the Destination Station. Then it occured to me.. a LOT of people may not even know about the Destination Station, yet. So, time for a little blog post. 🙂

Destination Station was created earlier last year by Itazura Radio, owner of Corona Cay. With the help of Chugabug Goodnight and Radar Masukami, he put together this excellent gathering spot at the center of our island. When you go inside, you will see a series of panels on all the walls. Each panel shows a picture of a really cool spot to explore. All of these were hand picked and contributed by Chug, Radar and Itazura as places that really are worth going to see. The station is constantly maintained, and updated frequently. If one of the sims has shut down, or has simply been in the Destination Station for too long, it is cycled out and replaced by a newer one.

The Station is very simple to use. All you have to do is click on the panel you are interested in. It will offer you a notecard with information on the sim, which you can accept or decline. And then it will automatically open the map with the teleport location already selected. Just click, and TP! There are about 100 places to explore, in the Destination Station. The selection is quite impressive. And as I said, its often changing.

Its also a great place to just hang out. This is a fairly high traffic area, and day or night- there is almost always someone in or near the Destination Station. In fact, if you type ‘meet people’ in SL search, Destination Station is the very first thing to come up. 🙂

If you are looking for new places to explore.. and especially if you are talking to any newbies and trying to help them find some really neat places in SL, please direct them this way. I think the Station is perfect for someone who is just coming into SL and is still trying to figure out what all there is to do.

  1. Just one minor correction, I really had zip to do with it. I think I put up maybe four signs. All the work on the destinations was almost all chug’s and the idea and execution of the concept was itazura’s.

it’s been really popular and fun for people to use, and they should get all the credit.

  2. How are the sims or venues selected for inclusion at Destination Station?

  3. Its pretty much word of mouth or what we find on our own. Mostly Chugabug Goodnight finds the destination spots. I’ve submitted a few and so has Radar.

  4. its really great to have somebody to set up and listing down interesting places to go to. it helps me with my assignment!good on these guys!

  5. I am definitely going to check this out.
