These Days Of Wine And Roses

I’ve been wanting to update my blog for awhile now, but have been so incredibly busy that I just haven’t gotten a chance. All this work is paying off, though. I’m very happy and proud to say that I’ve finally opened my first store! This is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite awhile, but had not quite figured out where my niche for building was. I always have all sorts of ideas, but somewhere between my imagination and rezzing the prims, something always seems to get lost in translation. I’ve been struggling for months, but have never been able to build anything other than a simple 1-prim canvas to put my art on. I’m happy now to say that I’ve finally graduated to two whole prims!

For months I experimented with various ideas. Lamps, room divider screens, rugs, tables, candles. Finally, I hit on something that actually worked- vases! More specifically, combining my artwork with vases to make something that would really stand out. Keeme and I are still homeless, so I usually would end up working on them wherever I could find build enabled.

Once I got comfortable with what I was doing, I spent coutless hours that weekend, building vases. I ended up making 33 of them over the course of three days, and got most of them put on SLX. Even still, I’m only about halfway done. I still have a lot to make and finish adding to SLX and then to Onrez. But first, I decided to take a break from that and try to look around for a shop to rent. I really wanted to sell these in world. Thanks to Plurk, I was able to find a fantastic deal on a shop from Alidar Moxie, at Chindogu. I have had my own gallery spot at S&S Gallery for months, but this was the first time of having a real shop of my own. I’ve been SO excited about this, and I had a lot of fun putting it together. There are still a lot of changes I’d like to make. I plan on retexturing the floor and walls soon, and I really would like to find some more aesthetically pleasing ways to display my vases. But for a first attempt, I’m pretty happy with how it came out.

The whole Chindogu sim is wonderful, and I’m very happy to be part of such a great community. Paypabak Writer assists Alidar with running Chindogu, and there are a lot of great designers here, and things to see and do.

My store is part of the Chindogu mall. In addition to Wine and Roses, there are a lot of other great stores there, as well. Seikatsu Koba has a very nice gallery called SK Gallery, that she just opened.

I LOVE Napolde Vella’s store, Fairy Pearls. Its so pretty! Napolde sells not only fairy wings and accessories, but also some very nice plants.

One the other side of Wine and Roses, is Warfed. Stuart Warf sells commercial prefabs and a cool lighthouse he made. He’ll have more items coming soon, he’s still getting started. But he’s a good friend of mine, so I’m happy to have him as my neighbor.

Possibly the coolest store on the sim is Carousel, by Horrid Twine. I love the sinister and eerie vibe to the shop, where you can buy dark carnival rides and attractions. Please make sure to stop by this store! Its really neat.

Next is Clinton Bulan’s weapon store, Ante. You can also buy clothing, accessories movie posters, and other items here.

Ghanie Lane sells a variety of really nice sculpty items at Sculpt Maps. Right now there are some items for the holidays, like candy canes and mistletoe. They’re pretty cute!

Xoph is another cool store for unusual items. Xoph Adamczyk sells demon skins and horns, skulls, pentagrams, particle snow, and a lot of other things.

This brings us to the final store in the Chindogu Mall. Ka Shoez, by Doreen Halley. It was Doreen’s rotating heel display that gave me the idea to make a similar display for one of my vases. I appreciate the inspiration. It looks like she has some really nice shoes for sale, too.

There are a lot of other great stores and builds outside of the mall, as well. Alidar Moxie has a nice theatre..

As well as Ali, her furniture and home decor store. I noticed as I was writing this that Ali is being featured as one of the Prim Perfect Treasure Hunt locations, this month! http://primperfectblog.wordpress.com/2008/11/22/october-treasure-hunt-clue-8-ali/

Bunny Brickworks has a jewelry and accessory store called GaZov Designs.

And also, her brand new gallery, Broken Angels. I think she only opened her gallery a couple of days after I opened Wine and Roses. It looks great!

Fallen is a new store still under construction. I think its by Ohm Fall. I’m not sure what its going to be, yet. But it looks interesting so far.

Britneyj Crimson has a jewellry store across from Fallen, called Second Mirage.

The MechanizedLife headquarters are at the corner of the sim, although from what I understand, its unavailable right now. I’m not sure what it is, but I get the impression that its some sort of project that Alidar works on with Codebastard Redgrave.

At the heart of Chindogu is a really pretty park, with cherryblossom trees and a pond thats just perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery.

As I said, I’m very excited to finally be a store owner, and I’m very happy to have ended up at Chindogu. Its a beautiful sim, and everyone that I’ve met has been great so far. And its a lot of fun to have so many plurkers as my neighors! I even set up a subscribe-o-matic in the store. So if you stop by, click the sign on the wall to join. Thanks! 🙂
